Ben Affleck V Jared Leto: ‘Batman’ Solo Movie To Star Joker? Further Spoilers Speculated [Rumor]

With Warner Bros. currently hard at work figuring out how their burgeoning DC cinematic universe is going to evolve, moviegoers are already confident that a new Batman solo film, which is likely going to expand into its own trilogy, will soon be confirmed.

Because of this almost inevitable eventuality, rumors surrounding who might feature in a potential Batman solo film have already started to emerge. And the latest one should have movie fans extremely excited, because it’s been speculated that Ben Affleck’s Batman will go up against Jared Leto’s Joker in the first solo effort for the iconic character.

But there are even more potential SPOILERS ahead for Warner Bros.’ plans for their DC Cinematic Universe. So if you don’t want the likes of Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, Suicide Squad, the Justice League films, or Batman to be ruined for you, you might not want to read ahead.

The latest rumor to emerge about a possible solo Batman film is that it will be heavily influenced and adapted from two specific comics. According to JoBlo, the potential solo film will be specifically draw from A Death In The Family and Under The Hood.

This means that the character of Jason Todd will feature prominently, while, if the film follows the comics, then the Joker will also be involved. And since the Joker is being portrayed by Jared Leto in Suicide Squad it could lead the Oscar-winning actor to be paired opposite Ben Affleck’s Batman in a feature-length film very soon.

This wouldn’t actually be the first time that Ben Affleck and Jared Leto would be in the same comic book film though. That’s because Ben Affleck has already been snapped working on Suicide Squad, which will see Jared Leto make his debut as the iconic villain.

However, it’s believed that Ben Affleck’s Batman is only appearing in Suicide Squad in a brief capacity, and the thought of Batman and Joker going toe-to-toe again in a prolonged film, but this time as Affleck and Leto, is enough to increase anticipation fervently for the latest Batman solo flick.

If A Death In The Family and Under The Hood are used for adaptation, then the Joker would be just one of its main supporting characters. He would be joined by Jason Todd.

That’s because A Death In The Family features the demise of the former Robin, Jason Todd, who is killed by the Joker. Meanwhile, it’s then followed by Under The Hood, which sees Jason Todd reborn as the Red Hood, an antihero who is very similar to Batman in a number of ways, but he is much more willing to use lethal force and an array of weapons.

In between these stories, Batman has to deal with the overwhelming guilt that he feels over his failure to prevent the death of Jason Todd.

It’s now been alleged that the script for the Batman solo film, which is said to have been co-written by Ben Affleck and DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, will see Red Hood arriving back in Gotham City, where he then begins to impersonate Batman in order to make the vigilante look like a criminal.

As their story unfolds, it then results in Batman, Red Hood, and the Joker involved in a three-way fight.

It’s already been speculated that Jason Todd’s Robin costume was shown in Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice’s trailer. It had been scrawled with, “Ha ha ha — Joke’s on you, Batman.”

That’s yet to actually be revealed, but we’ll learn more regarding how the cinematic universe will expand when Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice and Suicide Squad are released on March 25 and August 5, 2016, respectively.
