‘The Walking Dead’ Spoilers: Glenn May Not Be Dead, But Daryl Dixon Could Soon Be

The Walking Dead could be headed to a huge twist, with spoilers indicating that Glenn is not really dead after his apparent on-screen death but that Daryl Dixon could soon be leaving.

The show has been known for killing off main characters still managed to shock fans this week when it appeared that a crowd of walkers caught up to Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) and tore him apart. Glenn’s death was heavily implied but not actually shown on screen, leading some fans to theorize that it may have actually been Nicholas who was killed by the walkers.

Showrunner Scott M. Gimple gave fans of The Walking Dead another spoiler when he implied that Glenn is not dead — or at least, not dead in the way that fans may think.

He said the following (via Variety).

“Dear fans of ‘The Walking Dead,’ this is a hard story to tell and when we were planning to tell it, we knew our friends at the ‘Talking Dead would be talking to you about it. And knowing you’d all be talking and feeling and commiserating, I knew we should say something about it, lest our silence say something we didn’t mean to say or not say. So I’ll say this: In some way, we will see Glenn, some version of Glenn, or parts of Glenn again, either in flashback or in the current story, to help complete the story.”

There have been other spoilers indicating good news for The Walking Dead fans who want to see Glenn alive again. Yeun was reportedly seen on set filming new scenes, meaning that there will be at least some scenes with Glenn in them (though it’s not clear if it will be in real time or in flashback).

Other fans, especially those in touch with the comic book on which the show is based, are aware that Glenn is working on borrowed time and his death may be inevitable.

But while the fate of Glenn is still very much up in the air, there could be a more devastating spoiler coming for fans of The Walking Dead. There are rumors that Daryl Dixon could soon be killed off the show, something that many believe has been hinted toward by the show’s producers.

AMC just announced a new series calling Ride with Norman Reedus that shows the Walking Dead actor riding to various locations across the country, stopping at shops and tattoo parlors. The show is apparently a nod toward Reedus’ love of motorcycle, and aims to tap into the fan base he has built up through The Walking Dead.

But Cinema Blend writer Conner Schwerdtfeger wrote that the show could point to Reedus’ departure from the show, meaning that Daryl would be killed off on The Walking Dead.

“Fans love the actor and character so much that they have even at times threatened to riot of the show ever killed him off. However, premiering a show that headlines Reedus completely separate from The Walking Dead makes one wonder if the network may finally be working up the courage to take Dixon out of the equation. Having Reedus in a new series could serve to ease the blow on those who tune in weekly to specifically see his character. Then again, they could simply be trying to achieve maximum exposure for a beloved actor on their network. It’s anyone’s guess at this stage.”

Fans of The Walking Dead who want to find out if Glenn is still alive won’t have to wait long. The show returns on Sunday, November 1, when it’s expected to be revealed whether he was really killed.
