The self-proclaimed Disney-Pixar fanatic known as “The Pixarist” shared photos on Tumblr of their work, in addition to detailed descriptions of what they needed to do behind-the-scenes in order to make their project successful.
In the introduction of his post, he explains that the project to recreate Toy Story 3 started back in late 2011. He states that a successful recreation of the blockbuster hit could not have been done without successfully recreating Andy’s bedroom.
“You can’t successfully recreate Toy Story 3 without a realistic looking Andy’s room. It took about 2 years of work, but it was totally worth it. It’s the room that most of us grew up wishing we had. From the hardwood floor to the bright white woodwork, it’s all there. It may sound a bit obsessive, but we tried incredibly hard to make sure that every little detail was captured.”
At first glance, this recreated version of Andy’s room looks exactly like a scene from the 2010 Lee Unkrich-directed film – especially when you consider the vast number of details featured throughout the relatively small space.
The Pixarist identified many of the details that were included in the recreated version of Andy’s room that most Toy Story 3 fans and critics alike might easily overlook.
“There is a white board next to Andy’s desk that we, for the most part, replicated perfectly. His posters were almost perfectly recreated for our room as well. I’ve got to thank my brother for those. The amount of detail he put into those things amazes me.”
The Pixarist further explained that one of his personal favorite parts of the project was recreating Andy’s bedroom door from Toy Story 3– including the scattered stickers, posters, and dartboard.
In his Tumblr post, he states that all of the details posted on the door “really gives off the teenager-vibe” and he “loved recreating it” for the room – especially since he was apparently able to buy the dart board at a thrift store for a great deal.
To create Andy’s desk, this self-proclaimed Toy Story 3 enthusiast spent a lot of time renovating a broken, old brown desk that once belonged to his grandmother.
Other details that he was able to capture from the familiar Toy Story 3 set included: the crescent moon bed headboard, the electric guitar and Andy’s toy box.
This team of creative fanatics are apparently recreating Toy Story 3 frame-by-frame – presenting an essential reflection using real-life animals and actual toy versions of the movie’s character ensemble.
For example, they included a “before & after” still from their recreated movie against a still from the actual film featuring Woody sitting up Andy’s dog.
Quite a few people have shared their reactions to this recreated version of Andy’s room from Toy Story 3 on Twitter since the Tumblr post first went viral.
