Awesome ‘Suicide Squad’ New Photo Shows Jared Leto As The Joker
An awesome, new photo of Jared Leto as The Joker in Suicide Squad was released Monday thanks to Empire Magazine. Have you seen it?
This is the best look yet at Jared Leto’s Joker, for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, and on top of that, the 43-year-old actor is talking about his time filming in more detail, according to Comic Book Movie. Leto — who is a known method actor — shared the very colorful comments for the upcoming Empire issue, which features the villain on its cover.
“I was just thinking that the Joker would probably just say, ‘F*** you,’ and hang up.
“There was definitely a period of… detachment. I took a pretty deep dive. But this was a unique opportunity and I couldn’t imagine doing it another way. It was fun, playing those psychological games. But at the same time it was very painful, like giving birth out of my pr*** hole.”

Jared Leto went into great details about how he saw The Joker himself, and how this affected the role for Suicide Squad. Leto told says he always thought the villain is older than what people think. In addition to the actor’s comments, Suicide Squad producer Charles Roven reveals that the The Joker’s unusual fashion style is inspired by Mexican cartels, while at the same time defines The Joker as, “More social… a very successful and smart businessman besides being a sociopath.”
In April, Ayer shared a first look at Jared Leto’s Joker on Twitter, and fans raved about the character’s scary look, which the director also addressed in the new article about Suicide Squad.
“The Joker is the third rail of comic book movies. There’s a power to that character, and by some freaking miracle, through the incredible things Jared has done and the photography and all the other millions of things that went into it, we’ve cooked up something transcendent. He’s scary.”
To say that fans were elated when it was announced that Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto was cast as The Joker in Suicide Squad would be a huge understatement. His inclusion immediately put the comic book adaptation on the map as a serious contender.
The Joker is one of the most epic DC Comics characters, and despite not having any superpowers, he uses his incredible intellect to make Batman’s life miserable. He is described as a criminal mastermind, a psychopath with a twisted sense of humor, and a prankster.
When Leto was cast as The Joker, the inevitable comparisons to the late Heath Ledger were made. Undoubtedly, those were big shoes to fill, as many fans still idolize the character portrayal in The Dark Knight and the tragic circumstances surrounding Ledger’s untimely death before the film’s release.
Earlier this year, Jared Leto expressed his excitement about playing The Joker in Suicide Squad for Screen Rant, one of comics’ most beloved villains.
“The opportunity to take on this nearly Shakespearean character — that’s what graphic novels and comic books are becoming, right? (He’s) this beautiful disaster of a character — what a big challenge.”
With Jared Leto as The Joker opposite Ben Affleck’s Batman, fans can expect a completely different take on the classic rivalry.

“A secret government agency run by Amanda Waller, named A.R.G.U.S creates a task force comprised of super villains, the ‘Suicide Squad’. They are assigned to execute dangerous tasks in exchange for shorter prison sentences.”
