Carrie Underwood Calls ‘American Idol’ Horrifying Experience

Carrie Underwood is a popular country singer and now she is speaking out about her time on American Idol. Underwood got her start on the show, but she is admitting that it was actually a very scary situation for her. Carrie is a girl from a small town in Oklahoma and success has been a huge change for her. Yahoo! actually shared what Carrie Underwood had to say about it all, and how it was “horrifying” to her dealing with all of it. Carrie spoke out to Parade Magazine recently about the show that changed her life.

“Idol was probably the most horrifying thing, because I had never been away from my hometown like that before. I was in L.A., of all places, by myself, putting myself out there, which is a scary thing for anybody to do. My first plane ride was when I was going out to L.A. alone.”

It has now been 10 years since Carrie Underwood won American Idol and her life has changed a lot since then. Carrie is living in Nashville and not small town Oklahoma, and she is now married to Mike Fisher. Plus, Underwood is a mom with a little boy at home. Her son, Isiah, is now 7-months-old and Carrie is always posting things about him while they are on the road. Underwood has won seven Grammys in her time in country music. Carrie went on to explain how great things are for her, and that she is thankful for the show.

“I always kept in my head, ‘If nothing else ever comes of this, I got to do the coolest thing ever and I won American Idol,’ I was like, ‘Okay, I will just have fun with this and save up as much money as I can and finish school and get a real job.’ Because I am always a practical thinker and would never allow myself to think it would turn out okay all the time.”

Carrie Underwood did admit that she is still a bit shy. After 10 years of being in the country music world, Underwood still has a bit of trouble talking to the audience, but it sounds like the singing part just comes naturally to her. Carrie admits that she talks herself up and it helps her confidence. When you watch Carrie Underwood on stage, you would never know, because she handles herself just fine.

Underwood just came out with her new album, Storyteller, and EW gave her an amazing review on the new music. This is her fifth studio album and there is a good chance that it will be her fifth album to hit number one. Carrie already released her first hit from the album, called “Smoke Break.” Even though the title doesn’t sound like something you would expect from Carrie, once you hear the lyrics you know that it is the perfect fit for her. This song speaks directly to the normal everyday woman in the world.
