Official ‘Fallout 4’ Cartoon Explains How To Avoid Combat With Charm

With the launch of Fallout 4 now less than six weeks away, Bethesda Game Studios is trying to get gamers excited about the upcoming new entry of the popular apocalyptic series. To keep consumer interests high, the developer has delivered a new episode of an ongoing cartoon web series each week for the past month. In the past weeks, the Inquisitr has detailed each installment of this new Fallout 4 animated series.

Every Wednesday, Bethesda will release a new episode of the seven-part cartoon series that gives players more details on the core character attributes of Fallout 4. Each episode is dedicated to a different ability score tied to the series’ unique S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system. The stats don’t seem to be drastically different in Fallout 4, so longtime fans of the franchise likely won’t find any new information in the videos. Thankfully, the cartoon series was also designed to be entertaining so gamers should find them fun to watch regardless of whether they are learning anything new or not.

The cartoons star Fallout‘s Vault Boy as the series mascot shows off the benefits of the game’s primary character stats. Each of the black and white episodes features the same retro style that can be found throughout the series. Bethesda created the web series as if it were created by the Vault-Tec corporation, which will once again appear in Fallout 4.

This week’s newest episode, which was released by BethesdaNet, provides gamers with examples of why it will be important to have a high Charisma score in Fallout 4. Previous installments of the cartoon have detailed some of the game’s more physical attributes such as Strength and Endurance. With Charisma, however, Fallout 4 survivors will be able to charm their way out of situations so that they don’t have to rely simply on brute force.

Charisma will continue to function similarly in Fallout 4, similar to how the skill has been used in earlier games. Characters with a high Charisma attribute score will be able to stretch their bottle caps further by getting better deals whenever buying or selling to merchants. These same negotiating skills can also be used outside of bartering to gain information or even avoid combat altogether. Those possessing above average Charisma can even tame wild animals found in Fallout 4‘s post-apocalyptic wastelands.

With four episodes released thus far, there are only now three more Fallout 4 character stats left to cover. There will only be another three weeks left before the actual launch of Fallout 4 once the pre-launch cartoon series has concluded. The next installment of the online series should feature Intelligence, which would only leave Agility and Luck to go.

Following the November launch of Fallout 4, the developer already has plans for post-launch DLC for the game. As the Inquisitr reported earlier this week, Bethesda’s Pete Hines has already confirmed that they won’t engage in any platform exclusivity for future Fallout 4 add-ons. That means that DLC will release across the Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC at the same time.

It also came out this past weekend that the install size for Fallout 4 will be under 30 GB on the Xbox One. While many current-gen titles are in the larger 50-60 GB size range, Polygon reassures fans that the smaller file size doesn’t necessarily mean that Fallout 4 will itself be a smaller game. It is more likely that Bethesda has discovered better ways to compress the game files.

In addition to DLC, players can also expect more Fallout 4 content to come directly from the community. As with many Bethesda titles, the studio plans to release official modding tools for Fallout 4 early next year. For the first time ever, player-made modes will also be available on consoles.
