Snoop Dogg is going the same direction of the Kardashian-Jenner clan by launching his own website. But it’s not just any lifestyle website. It’s the first lifestyle website dedicated to marijuana.
It’s no secret that Snoop Dogg loves marijuana. The rapper brags about his love for the plant-based drug on social media and in his rap songs. Now the “D-O-G-G” is hoping to make a profit off his hobby by dedicating a website to weed.
Snoop Dogg launched the new online business, aptly titled “Merry Jane,” that will focus on all things marijuana. The “Smoke the Weed” rapper spoke out about his new business venture with co-founder Ted Chung at the TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco on Monday, Sept. 21. Snoop and Ted describe the new website as an informative online hub for anyone who’s interested in partaking the ganja.
Snoop is seen in a promotional video at the event, “Merry Jane is cannabis 2.0. A crossroads of pot culture, business, politics, health.”
The 43-year-old rapper is hoping that it will allow some of his fans the “opportunity to come out of the closet and just admit they like to smoke.” It’s part of Dogg’s motives to make recreational marijuana more socially acceptable.
The “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rapper’s website is more than just an ode to weed. It also includes informational news and content on the marijuana industry, including cooking shows for those who are interested in making edibles and weed pairings with alcohol. On Snoop Dogg’s site, there’s a show called Deflowered, which talks about users’ first time experiences with smoking the drug. Snoop Dogg also said that his site will also include celebrity appearances, adding, “Seth Rogen is down with the team.” He’s also in talks with also featuring Miley Cyrus on the website.
Willie Nelson would also be the perfect face for Snoop Dogg’s new website. The legendary country singer has been open about his love for marijuana. Seeing Willie and Snoop together would be like seeing two worlds collide.
Merry Jane isn’t just an informational site. It will also tap into the business side of the marijuana business, according to Chung. He added that Dogg’s new website will provide guides on choosing the right strain of marijuana. He’s also hoping that it will be the destination for marijuana businesses, as noted by Time magazine.
This isn’t the first time that Snoop has tapped into an internet venture. Earlier this year, he announced that he was investing $10 million in a weed delivery service with Eaze. In addition, Snoop is an investor with Reddit and has launched the investment app Robinhood.
The new website is slated for launch in October, but the team is currently sending invites out to 420 beta testers, Snoop Dogg joked.
