Mariah Carey is soon to be taking on prime time on the hit show, Empire , which is returning to Fox on September 23. The season will see some pretty incredible guest stars aside from Carey, including Chris Rock, Marisa Tomei, Ludacris, and Vivica A. Fox. However, it is the diva Mariah who is receiving the most press coverage in regards to her spot on the show and co-creator Lee Daniels, who is also a pal of the songstress, shared about Carey’s role on the hit series with Entertainment Weekly .
“Mariah is coming on. We are trying to crack a story for her now. As with Mariah, she wants it her way. But as with Lee Daniels, I want it my way. So it’s the usual back-and-forth with mamacita until we figure out exactly what it’s going to be. We’re very close to cracking story for her. But we’re very excited.”
Daniels went on to share about the character Mimi will be playing on the series, yet adds that it’s been difficult to entirely decide on, seeing as Mariah has been a bit difficult about the possibility of her playing the role as herself.
“I think it would be great to play her but she doesn’t want to play her so that’s what we’re doing. She’s giving us the hard assignment of trying to create a character which we’re doing right now. I think she’s going to be in our finale, which I’ll be directing.”
There is a reason that Mariah Carey has experienced the success she has over the years. Not only is she a remarkable talent, but she knows what works best for her and therefore, pushes to cause others to see her point of view. It is no surprise that Carey is being picky in regards to the character she plays on the show. Regardless of the persona the star takes on, she’s sure to be a fantastic addition to Empire this season.
Recently, Mariah has been making headlines for additional reasons to those of her cameo on Empire . The “Hero” singer is enjoying a new romance with boyfriend James Packer and has been travelling the Mediterranean with her new love. News of a baby on the way was even making the rounds after an Aussie tabloid claimed that the singer was expecting her third child. However, the claims have been proven false recently as E! shares.
In addition, fans may remember Mariah’s feelings in regards to pregnancy from her experience when carrying her twins, during which she experienced difficulties. The diva spoke with 20/20 back in 2011 on the topic.
“Carrying two babies. Unless somebody’s been through it, it’s difficult to understand what I went through, because my pregnancy was very unique in terms of what happened to me,” she said. “I had serious back problems…I was afraid I wasn’t going to be able to walk properly again. It was a huge strain.”
It seems unlikely that Carey is intending to rush into a pregnancy once again, after enduring so much discomfort.
