Nicki Minaj Wax Figure Set Design To Be Remodeled After Visitors Post Obscene Photos With The Statue
Nicki Minaj is causing a stir at Madame Tussauds in Las Vegas — or at least her wax figure is. The set design around the wax figure is about to be remodeled after visitors posted pictures of their obscene poses with it on social media, the Telegraph reports.
Some visitors to the statue have photographed themselves simulating sex acts with the Nicki minaj wax figure, which is based on a still from the rapper’s “Anaconda” video, where she appears on her hands and knees in an outfit that flatters her ample derrière.
The pose startled some people when the Nicki Minaj statue was unveiled because of its sexual suggestiveness, and pretty soon, images of people gyrating on, licking, and lewdly touching the statue started popping up all over social media.
Due to the explicit nature of the photos of at least one visitor, Madame Tussauds has decided to change the Nicki Minaj wax figure set design.
“We have been made aware of the inappropriate photograph that was taken at Madame Tussaud’s in Las Vegas, involving Nicki Minaj’s wax figure…” the museum said via a statement posted on Twitter.
“It’s unfortunate that this visitor decided to behave so inappropriately and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We are taking immediate steps to ensure more staff are present in this area and that the set around this particular figure is redesigned so that a picture like this cannot be taken again.”
There’s no word yet on whether the Nicki Minaj wax figure itself is going to be redesigned, as well.
This decision by Madame Tussaud’s comes days after Nicki Minaj suffered an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction at her Pinkprint Concert Tour stop in Vancouver, Canada. Fans got a little bit more than what they paid for when the rapper perform in a gold bra that momentarily revealed her nipple. The rapper seemed unfazed by it and continued her performance like a true professional.
This Nicki Minaj wardrobe malfunction pales in comparison to the one that she suffered at the VMAs last year. After a thrilling performance of her song, “Anaconda,” Minaj was scheduled to quickly change her outfit and return to the stage to perform her rap for “Bang Bang” alongside Jessie J and Ariana Grande. However, when the voluptuous rapper appeared, she was holding her dress together. In later interviews, she said that her styling team was unable to get the dress zipped up in time, so she had to perform with it unzipped.
“Originally, I was just gonna have a skirt that just wrapped around the green, but when I realized that Jessie and Ariana were wearing black and white, I didn’t want to ruin the shot with me wearing a green bra and them wearing black and white!” Minaj explained to Ellen DeGeneres at the time.”I was like, ‘I have to put on a black dress really quickly!’ Sure enough, we didn’t have a real quick-change right there, so it was literally my whole team just standing there, holding curtains around me. It was pitch black. I couldn’t see anything. Right before it was time for me to walk out, they went to zip it up, and… right there, I thought I died. I didn’t have any underwear on! No underwear, no bra, because I had just taken off the ‘Anaconda’ outfit, so I was butt-a** naked!”
Ellen responded by handing Nicki a huge safety pin which she could use in similar situations in the future, Fuse reports.
The wax figure debacle doesn’t seem to be bothering Nicki Minaj, as she has retweeted some of the more PG photos of visitors posing with the statue.
