#LeahStrong: Leah Still Featured On Wheaties Box, Devon Still’s ‘Champion’ Daughter Still In Remission

#LeahStrong has been an internet trend for months as Leah Still, the daughter of Bengals defensive tackle Devon Still, has been battling cancer. The 5-year-old was diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma in 2014, and underwent intense treatment for several weeks. In March of this year, Leah’s cancer was officially in remission. However, she is still fighting every day, working on getting her energy back.

According to the New York Daily News, Leah Still was sent a very sweet (and super cool) gift from Wheaties. The youngster was put on a box of cereal, recognized for her bravery, and her strength.

The #LeahStrong movement has gotten quite a bit of support following Devon Still’s emotional speech at the 2015 ESPY Awards last month. He accepted the Jimmy V Perseverance Award on behalf of Leah, who was wasn’t well enough to attend the show.

“Everyday I preached to my daughter that she couldn’t give up, that she couldn’t let the battle get the best of her. Who was I to go try to find an escape through liquor when she had no escape for the pain she was going through? So I didn’t do it. Instead I would grab my fiancee’s hand every night and we would drop to our knees and we would pray to God I didn’t lose my daughter while I was in Cincinnati.”

According to Today, things are still going well for Leah Still. While she still might have some difficult days, her most recent scan showed no sign of change — her cancer is still in remission. Leah had a bit of a setback in May when she was diagnosed with Hepatic veno-occlusive disease, or VOD, as a result from a stem cell transplant. As previously reported by the Inquisitr, doctors did catch it early, and Leah was expected to be okay. At the time, Devon asked his fans for their prayers, and said that he and his family were determined to “remain positive.”

Thankfully, Leah did pull through, and her health continues to improve.

Devon has officially started the new season with the Bengals, and has gone to training camp, leaving Leah (see their sweet goodbye here), but not for long. The two will be reunited again soon.
