She dresses provocatively, comes from a famously wealthy family, and gained her position by the crawling into bed with men who each were more powerful then the last until she was married to the most powerful man in the land. That, of course, perfectly describes the character Margaery Tyrell from Game of Thrones . It is, however, easy to draw parallels with several young ladies in Hollywood. One that likely springs to mind being Kim Kardashian.
In fact, Game of Thronesstar Natalie Dormer made that comparison herself, as she told the Sunday Express.
“The most modern of all the characters in Game Of Thrones . She is very much a PR genius. Now she would be one of those It girls, tweeting and Instagramming their latest dresses and raising money for orphanages by running half-marathons. She’d be rivalling Kim Kardashian for numbers of followers on Twitter and Instagram!”
The words ring very true, and the comparisons do not end there. Kardashian’s star was launched by a controversial stolen home video, and still has not seemed to burn out. Much like the Game of Thrones character, good management and support from her family took her from virtual unknown in the community of Hollywood royalty to one of Tinseltown’s elite. She eventually found herself marrying self-proclaimed god of the rap game, Kanye West. Incidentally, Kim marrying Kanye was the first time a Game of Thrones Star mentioned Hollywood’s most powerful couple.

In Game of Thrones , Natalie Dormer’s character has also taken controversy that should have destroyed the life of her character and used it to her advantage, eventually becoming queen of the entire land, marrying two rightful kings (rightful on paper, anyway) of Westeros. Until certain events of last season, Margaery Tyrell put her family dangerously close to the Iron Throne. The Independent even compared the first of those two, King Joffrey, to Kanye West, citing the temper tantrums that Joffrey would throw when not getting his way.
Her first break as a star came when she played Ann Boleyn on the show The Tudors, and since playing such a popular character on Game of Thrones , Natalie Dormer’s star has been on the rise. She has had parts in movies like Captain America: The First Avenger , and is playing the part of Cressida in The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay – Parts 1 and 2 .
Game of Thrones continues to be what Dormer is best known for, and the last we saw of her character, she was in grave peril.
