Gwen Stefani: Gavin’s Former Gay Lover Speaks, ‘People Want To Blame Me’, Certain Gwen Knew Of Rossdale’s Past

It’s the end of the road for the marriage of Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale. The musical duo, who has been looked to as an example of true love and solid relationship in comparison to the often short-lived marriages within the entertainment world, made their decision known within the past week.

With the news of the split came details and claims about Rossdale’s romantic past — most notably a relationship the Bush frontman carried on with Marilyn Robinson, a London-based popstar. As the Insider notes, “Their romance came to light five years ago, but the British singer and sometimes cross-dresser” insists that “he is not to blame for Rossdale’s split from his wife of 13 years, Gwen Stefani.”

As ET relays, Rossdale and Robinson met back in the 80s while on the London club scene and carried on a romantic and “very very close” relationship for many years. The popstar was even in attendance for the wedding of Gwen and Gavin in 2002. In speaking with the Insider, Gavin’s past lover attempted to clear his name as having any part in the break up of “Hollaback Girl” Gwen and her rocker husband, Gavin.

“I’m getting kind of the gist that people want me to be somehow to blame for the marriage split and that’s just not true. I love Gavin. I’ve always loved Gavin. I want him to be happy and Gwen to be happy and the kids to be happy.”

Although the news of the split between Stefani and Rossdale came as a shock to the rest of the world, Robinson admits that he knew a divorce was in the cards for the couple. About the wedding of the pair, in which he was attendance, Robinson noted that the atmosphere and vibe between he and the bride was a bit off. ET shares.

“It was just a weird atmosphere. London is very small and we know all the same people, and when I walked into the reception, I knew everyone but Gwen. I wanted to talk to her and say, ‘Hi I’m really happy you’re marrying’ — just to cut any nonsense that may have been in existence, but the only person I didn’t talk to was Gwen and every time I looked around she was looking at me. I do kind of regret not breaking away from what was going on around me and saying that to her. They lasted a long time, 13 years and 3 children. I don’t know that two people couldn’t have tried any more.”

Rumors of infidelity have been swirling amid the breakup news. However, Robinson rationally draws attention to the fact that it is all purely speculation, and that it is only Gwen and Gavin who truly know what has brought them to the point of divorce.
