Valerie Bertinelli Ditching Scale And Focusing On New Cooking Show [Video]
Valerie Bertinelli no longer cares what the scale says. Following Valerie’s highly-publicized weight loss with Jenny Craig in 2012, the 50-something actress is ditching the scale and looking forward to promoting her new cooking show on The Food Network.
After breaking her foot while working out, Bertinelli gained back 15 of the 40 pounds she had lost.
“I broke my foot three months ago and I’ve not been able to work out,” Valerie said during an appearance on The Talk. According to Us Weekly, Valerie noticed the number on her scale started to “creep” up while she recovered from her injury. Shame set in — until Valerie banished the thoughts with a little common sense about the numbers on the scale.

Valerie “started thinking, ‘Why do I feel so much shame? Because the cameras are on me? Because the paparazzi can’t wait to get a picture of me looking like I’ve gained a few pounds?'” Bertinelli confessed on The Talk.“We have to take the shame out of it! It’s not fair.”
Even though Valerie Bertinelli would like the numbers on the scale to be lower, she’s sensibly realized it’s time to take the pressure off herself and to think about her new show on The Food Network.
When the scale began to read higher, “I thought, ‘No, wait a minute. This is my body. I’m almost 54, I broke my foot, I haven’t been able to move.” Following the advice of her doctor, Valerie decided to take it easy — no matter what the scale said. “My doctor even said, ‘Do not get your heart rate up.’ So I couldn’t do anything,” Bertinelli revealed.

Now that Valerie Bertinelli has healed, she’s “back in the gym and I’m ready to go,” although she no longer cares what the scale says. Her new attitude means focusing on her new show that will premiere on The Food Network. Even though she no longer worries about the scale, Bertinelli understands that her weight is a struggle she will fight her whole life.
“It’s always going to be a struggle for me for my entire life. I’m going to have up days and down days.”
Now that Hot In Cleveland has wrapped up filming, Bertinelli will start her new cooking show, Valerie’s Home Cooking, which premieres on August 8, and her Hot In Cleveland co-stars will pitch in to help Valerie during the premiere.
Valerie Bertinelli has only good things to say about co-star Betty White, according to Entertainment Weekly.
“All I know is that whatever Betty [White] is having, I’ll have some of that,” Bertinelli said, dismissing the numbers on the scale.
