Bobbi Kristina Funeral & Fortune Become Battleground: Whitney Houston’s & Bobby Brown’s Family Fight [Photos]

Bobbi Kristina Brown’s funeral arrangements and fortune have both become battlegrounds for Bobby Brown’s and Whitney Houston’s families. After being found unconscious on Jan. 31, face-down in a bathtub in a situation eerily parallel to Whitney’s, Bobbi Kristina died at age 22 on Sunday, reported People.

Although family and friends share the desire to mourn and honor their memories of Bobbi Kristina, funeral arrangements are in transition from the arguments among relatives. What is known: Bobbi Kristina will buried adjacent to Whitney in New Jersey, with the Atlanta funeral scheduled for Saturday.

“Both sides [of the Brown and Houston family] are still not happy and on the same page,” revealed an insider. “There is a lot going on behind the scenes. There is a lot to do in a very short time.”

And despite challenges such as inviting carefully selected guests to help express what Bobbi Kristina meant, the funeral arrangements are in turmoil, according to another insider.

“Things are constantly changing,” confirmed that source.

After Bobbi Kristina died, with her family around her, the Fulton County Medical Examiner performed a preliminary autopsy. Although no significant injuries were revealed at that time, more lab tests are underway.

But for Bobby Brown, it is a time to mourn.

“Krissy was and is an angel. I am completely numb at this time,” said Brown. “My family must find a way to live with her in spirit and honor her memory. Our loss is unimaginable.”

Bobbi Kristina’s funeral services will occur on Aug. 1 at St. James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, Ga., reported Us Weekly.

The private burial ceremony then will be held on Aug. 3 in Westfield, N.J.’s Fairview Cemetery, where Whitney Houston was mourned after her death at 48. Many of the same family members who shed tears for Whitney’s loss were there as Bobbi Kristina lost her life in hospice.

Nick Gordon, Bobbi Kristina’s boyfriend, will not be invited, reported Extra.

In addition, the family will not broadcast Bobbi Kristina’s funeral, said an insider.

“Absolutely no plans on broadcasting the funeral. Just like the deathbed photo that has been shopped around, they don’t want to have anyone financially gain from her loss. The family doesn’t want anyone to make money from this tragedy and make this more of a spectacle than it already has become.”

But what happens to the fortune left by Whitney Houston, totaling almost $20 million? Because Bobbi Kristina was her mother’s only heir, a fight looms, reported Entertainment Tonight.

Bobbi Kristina's funeral is being planned.
Bobbi Kristina Brown arrived at Whigham Funeral Home for a private viewing for her mother Whitney Houston. She was grief-stricken, and now her family is mourning her death.

Andrew Mayoras, attorney and co-author of Trial & Heirs, revealed the intricacies involved.

“There are no other children that were born to Whitney Houston [so] the money goes back into Whitney Houston’s estate under the terms of her will, and will be held for the benefit of her mother [Cissy Houston], and her two brothers [Michael Houston and Gary Garland, who is Whitney’s half-brother].”

Unless Bobbi Kristina wrote a will naming Bobby Brown and/or Nick Gordon, neither will inherit any money, added Andrew.

“Bobby Brown does not inherit anything from Whitney Houston’s will,” explained Mayoras. “If Bobbi Kristina did make out a will, or name Nick Gordon as a joint owner on any of her bank accounts, then Nick Gordon would stand to receive money according to Bobbi Kristina’s estate plan.”

However, as the Inquisitr reported, Nick Gordon faces a lawsuit filed by Bobbi Kristina’s court-appointed conservator, Bedelia Hargrove. The claims against Gordon include domestic abuse, which ranged from dragging her by the hair to knocking out a tooth. Nick also allegedly embezzled.

“[Gordon] accessed Brown’s bank account(s) and stole in excess of $11,000,” charges the lawsuit.

Following up, the conservator expressed the implications of the lawsuit.

“No human being, male or female, should endure what Bobbi Kristina endured. Pat Houston and Bobby Brown have done all they can to take care of Bobbi Kristina since this terrible tragedy occurred. This lawsuit represents our collective efforts to get justice for Bobbi Kristina.”

A minimum of $10 million is sought.
