By now the announcement of the arrival of Jessica Simpson’s baby girl Maxwell Drew Johnson has made airwaves, as well as the Internet, as it seems like the media has been waiting for this day to come for a year now.
None other than newly minted aunt, singer Ashlee Simpson is also expressing her excitement about the special arrival of her niece. Simpson, who has a three year-old son, Bronx with ex-husband Pete Wentz, is said to be absolutely thrilled about Maxwell Drew Johnson, stating to PEOPLE a few hours after her arrival, “Bronx and I are in love with Maxwell already! Jessica has wanted to be a mom since we were little girls and I couldn’t be more excited for her and Eric!”
Ashlee and Jessica, who weren’t close as teenagers because of Jessica’s rising fame and Ashlee growing up in her shadow are now said to be closer than ever as mothers, especially bonding over Ashlee Simpson’s son, Bronx’s excitement, “He records songs on my sister’s iPhone about the things he wants to do with the baby, like swim in the ocean and go to the playground,” Jessica said. “The first one just made me cry. We’re making a CD of them – it was the best gift of all.”
The arrival of Jessica Simpson’s newborn happened this morning, with family arriving in toe awaiting Maxwell’s debut to the world. It is said that Maxwell Drew was born a healthy size of 9 pounds and 13 ounces. After the birth of Maxwell, who is named after fiance Eric’s middle name and her mother’s maiden name, Simpson made an announcement stating, “We are so grateful for all the love, support and prayers we have received,” she said in a statement. “This has been the greatest experience of our lives!!”
