‘The Walking Dead’ Spoilers About A Potential Death And Ethan Embry’s Character

Many fans of The Walking Dead were surprised when Empire Record s actor Ethan Embry popped up in the AMC series’ season 6 trailer, and now a crucial detail about his character has been revealed. Spoilers concerning The Walking Dead TV series and the comic books are ahead, so read at your own risk.

According to Comicbook , Scott Gimple revealed that Ethan Embry’s Walking Dead character is “very loosely based on a comic character.” Luckily for fans of the comic books, they won’t have to do any rereading to figure out who this character is — Gimple also promised that fans “will know when they see it.” And no, this doesn’t mean that the Can’t Hardly Wait star is playing Negan.

Embry’s character might actually be based on someone who has already appeared on the TV series. The good folks over on the Spoiling Dead Fans Facebook page seem pretty convinced that Ethan Embry’s character is based on Nicholas. This is a bit confusing because a character named Nicholas has already appeared on The Walking Dead TV series. He’s played by actor Michael Traynor, and he’s the swell guy who caused Noah’s death and almost killed Glenn twice. According to the Spoiling Dead Fans , TV Nicholas will likely die during the first half of season 6 after getting stuck in a walker-filled alleyway with Glenn.

The Nicholas in The Walking Dead comic books survives much longer than TV Nicholas — he even outlives comic book Glenn. He’s an outspoken critic of Rick Grimes, and he attempts to get his fellow Alexandrians to turn on the outsider. Embry’s character does seem very similar to comic book Nicholas in the season 6 trailer below.

The Spoiling Dead Fans speculates that Ethan Embry’s character will take over Nicholas’ comic book storyline after TV Nicholas dies.

“Nicholas should die in the first half. If he dies before the plan is made to try and kill Rick then someone will need to take Nicholas role in the assassination plot. Ethan can be based loosely on Nicholas story that happens after Nicholas dies on the show.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Ethan Embry is one of many Once Upon a Time stars who have also appeared on The Walking Dead . It was also recently revealed that Nurse Jackie actress Merritt Weaver will be joining the season 6 cast of the AMC series, and she’ll likely be playing Denise Cloyd, the love interest of beloved comic book character, Heath.

Fans of The Walking Dead will find out whether Ethan Embry’s character is based on Nicholas when the show returns October 11 on AMC.
