Staff at Torquay Museum in Devon grew terrified after discovering a photo of a ghostly image, which was taken during a paranormal event, according to the Daily Mirror .

During a ghost hunting event at the museum in May, photos were taken in a room which housed “300-year-old artifacts and furniture” as well as a fireplace. No one was present during the time marketing manager Carl Smith snapped the photos at midnight.

However, months later, Smith began rummaging through the photos he had taken and stumbled upon a photo of a ghostly image of a woman wearing old clothing. He informed staff, and they too confirmed that no one was in the room at the time the photo was captured, reports the Daily Mail .

The Torquay Museum staff grew terrified as they gazed at the ghostly image of the woman piercing down at a candle light.

“We saw something in the middle of the photo and when we adjusted the contrast we clearly saw the woman,” said Smith.

“It was a bit of a surprise and pretty creepy. From the angle of the photograph it looks like she is submerged into the floor, almost like she is below floor level.”

“There was no one else present when the photo was taken so we are at a loss to explain it.”

“It is a bit of a mystery, and there seems to be no other explanation.”

“Most of the equipment in the Old Farmhouse was left to us by a benefactor, and the oldest chair in the collection has been dated at around 300 years old.”

The Torquay Museum was founded in 1844 and employees have witnessed various paranormal activities, but it’s to be expected considering the remains of a 4-year-old boy from Ancient Egypt was discovered in the museum.

Countless of supernatural episodes have transpired at the museum throughout the years, but capturing the ghostly image of a woman on camera was the newest fright.

“All of the furniture and equipment has had a lot of human interaction, and maybe this is where the energy has come from,” Smith continued.

“We were very excited about the picture. We were taking photos all over the place, and it wasn’t until afterwards when we examined them more closely that we noticed it, which was quite spooky.”

“We’ve had a lot of spooky activity at the museum. Books will just fly off the shelves in the shop and people have said they have spotted a Victorian lady in a blue dress.”
