When The Originals picks up with its third season, Hayley Marshall, played by Phoebe Tonkin, will have her hands…or paws full, and though it may be awhile before Tonkin is back as a series regular, her character will be quite busy. Of course, as fans of The Originals already know, Hayley’s first priority will be to break the full moon curse, but Phoebe warns that when she does break that curse, fans of The Originals shouldn’t expect the same old even-tempered Hayley Marshall.
“I think more than anything, she’s angry that, you know, he betrayed her, but more than anything it’s like she misses her kid,” said The Originals’ Tonkin . “He’s the reason why she’s not with her kid right now and it’s heartbreaking, so I think before she does anything , she’s going to go and be with her baby and then she’s going to plot huge revenge against him.”
Revenge? Yes, Phoebe assures fans that The Originals ‘ Hayley will be out for blood, as far as Klaus is concerned, and she means to have her justice. According to Ms. Tonkin, Hayley may have some help in her quest to make Klaus pay a price for his betrayal.
“I think she’s plotting various ways and I think those new characters- there may be other ways that the Mikaelsons can be killed besides the White Oak Stake and I think, yeah, she’s going to find a way” said Ms. Tonkin.
Hedging her bets, Tonkin adds that Hayley doesn’t want to take things too far. After all, there is Elijah to consider and as has usually been the case on The Originals , what affects one brother usually falls upon the other Mikaelson.
“Look, I don’t think Hayley wants Klaus dead. I think she wants to make him suffer as much as she suffered, but I don’t think she wants him dead because at the end of the day, he’s still the father of her child,” Phoebe said of her character on The Originals . “She wants the baby to have a mom and dad. She never had family and I think it’s really important to her, so she’s going to really try hard to at least maintain some sort of level of being amicable with each other just for the baby.”
Phoebe Tonkin seems to reveal more than she realizes, when she refers to The Originals ‘ new cast members and a possible alliance with Hayley in the new season. If Hayley is searching for help to exact revenge upon Klaus , she may soon find that her allies want to take it steps further than simply teaching Klaus a lesson. These new vampires may want Klaus dead, or as close to death as they can get him.
