Minka Kelly is finally sounding off on whether or not she’s dating Sean Penn. Kelly, who recently celebrated her birthday with Penn, took to Twitter to slam rumors that she and Sean Penn are an item.
Kelly tweeted a short note to deny that there was anything going on between her and Penn. “Not my nature to address gossip but hoping this last one goes away already. Not dating a friend I had a group dinner with. #sillymedia.”
While this isn’t the first time someone has denied dating a famous A-lister, perhaps we should be inclined to believe Minka. Whenever she’s in an A-list romance, and she has been in a bunch, she usually keeps quiet. For instance when she was going out with Derek Jeter, she didn’t confirm the rumors. The same can be said for when she was dating Chris Evans too.
In case you missed it, Sean Penn is a single man after being ghosted by Charlize Theron after the Cannes Film Festival. It’s said that the two split, and that papers to adopt Theron’s son was permanently halted. While it seemed like something huge happened between the two stars, seeing as they were supposedly happy and in love weeks prior, it might be that Penn doesn’t even know what went wrong. A source said that Charlize started to ignore Penn’s calls and texts hence the term “ghosting.”
That said, they still have to endure a few awkward appearances together. Penn is not completely unavoidable, as Theron will probably have to walk the red carpet when they promote their film Dark Places , which Penn directed Theron in.
As for Minka and Sean, the Inquisitr reported that the two met up for a group date to celebrate the actress’ birthday.
According to a source, Penn paid for the “very pricey meal” at Thomas Keller’s in Napa, California. The source went on to say that Penn took his friend to meet Minka and her friend. The two met each other at a function that Sean threw for his Haiti relief organization. When we first reported on the news, it was said that they were just testing the waters.
“That was their first date, but it was a group setting. It was more of a ‘let’s see how this goes.’ Minka and Sean got along great and had a great time, but it’s unclear where it’s going.”
