Whoopi Goldberg Walks Back Support Of Bill Cosby: ‘Info Out There Kinda Points To Guilt’

Less than a week after Whoopi Goldberg went ballistic over Bill Cosby critics, she is now pulling back on her support of the 78-year-old comedian. The View host said Tuesday that the information out in the public “kinda points to guilt.”

Goldberg, during an interview with Dan Abrams on The View, said on Tuesday with the information that has been released to the public so far, maybe Bill Cosby is guilty after all, reports Mediaite.

“If this is to be tried in the court of public opinion, I got to say all of the information that’s out there kind of points to guilt. I always thought they would have the opportunity to take him to court.”

Whoopi Goldberg, who has been a staunch defender of The Cosby Show dad, told Abrams since the 40 women who have accused the comedian of drugging and rape cannot seek criminal charges, she can no longer defend Bill Cosby.

“I have to say I thought that, yeah, here’s all the information, take his a** to jail. I find out from you [Abrams] that that’s not possible. So I can’t say any more ‘innocent until proven guilty,’ because there’s no way to prove it. We are the only proof that folks have.”

As Entertainment Weekly reports, Whoopi Goldberg’s reversal comes just days after The View host’s vigorous defense of Bill Cosby on the July 8 episode.

“None of you coming after threatening me will change the fact that no one has convicted him. He has not been arrested, and the bottom line is that’s the law. Innocent until proven guilty. And if you’re the mother of a son who gets accused, you want to keep innocent until proven guilty. Just ask the parents of the boys of the Duke lacrosse team. Remember that? We raked them across the coals. Burned them at the stake … they were done. Turns out, it wasn’t true.”

Whoopi Goldberg’s withdrawal of support comes days after producer and director Judd Apatow called The View host out for constantly defending Cosby and asked her to stand with the women who have accused the comedian of sexual assault, as the Inquisitr previously reported.

Apatow, one of Bill Cosby’s harshest critics, said in a Monday interview on the Today Show that it is time for people to wake up regarding the comedian.

“We should all be very hesitant about getting involved in anything. But when it’s 40 people, it certainly is time for everybody to wake up and say we should be concerned about the women.”
