‘El Chapo’ Gains Trump’s Full Attention After Escape From Prison, Alleged Threat On Twitter

Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman drew Donald Trump’s attention on Twitter after the Republican presidential hopeful made a statement about the Mexican border. It is unknown whether or not the tweet was from the actual prison escapee or an internet troll looking for attention. Either way, Trump wants some harsh consequences for whoever posted the message.

The alleged message from Guzman read, translated from Spanish, “Keep [expletive] around and I’m gonna make you swallow your [expletive] words…”

The tweet was posted from an account with the username ElChap0Guzman, and it’s unclear who the account actually belongs to. It’s doubtful that a wanted escaped convict would stop and leave a virtual fingerprint on the internet just to threaten a man who is only currently aiming to be President of the United States.

“El Chapo’s” alleged Trump threat came in the wake of the presidential hopeful’s Twitter statement about the border.

“El Chapo and the Mexican drug cartels use the border unimpeded like it was a vacuum cleaner, sucking drugs and death right into the U.S.”

This wouldn’t be the first time Donald Trump has angered the Hispanic population, though. When Trump made a derogatory tweet about the immigration problem, the words he used came off as racist. It sounded like he was blaming Mexican immigrants for bringing crime, drugs, and rape into the United States.

“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.”

Trump doesn’t seem to be fazed by the racism backlash though, even poking fun at how good the timing was between his statement on immigration and Joaquin Guzman’s escape from prison. He is bothered by the alleged threat from what may or may not be the Mexican drug lord on Twitter, and has asked the FBI to investigate the message.

The “El Chapo” tweet to Trump also opened up how seriously Donald Trump appears to be taking the matter of national security, according to ABC News. The Republican candidate appears to be unapologetically opposed to the idea of an alleged “open border,” and has used Guzman’s escape as an example of the spread of crime.

“I’m fighting for much more than myself. I’m fighting for the future of our country which is being overrun by criminals. You can’t be intimidated. This is too important.”

In the midst of the “El Chapo” Trump row, it seems that someone wants to keep the Republican presidential candidate focused on his views against immigrants.

Do you think the tweet was sent by the actual Mexican drug lord, or just someone looking for attention?
