Season Six Of ‘Teen Mom 2’ Is ‘Heartbreaking’ At Times, Claims Executive Producer Morgan J. Freeman

Teen Mom 2 Season 6 debuts tonight, and on July 9, the series’ executive producer, Morgan J. Freeman, spoke out about what fans can expect. In an interview with the Observer, Freeman opened up about the “heartbreaking” side of filming the reality show, and revealed what each girl went through during Season 6.

“It’s heartbreaking sometimes….everything in you wants to say, ‘Stop! No!’ but that’s not our job …”

After starring on the second season of 16 & Pregnant, Jenelle Evans, Kailyn Lowry, Chelsea Houska, and Leah Messer were chosen to continue on with their MTV journey and begin filming Teen Mom 2, which they did. Years later, they have all come a long way both personally, and as parents.

“The biggest overarching thing is that relationships are hard. There’s lots of struggle for [Kailyn] and Javi. Leah has her plate full—she’s struggling with Jeremy and then co-parenting with Cory. When you’re watching this, you’re thinking, ‘how much can one [woman] deal with?’ What you’ll see this season is that Leah asks for help. That’s an important step for her.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Messer faced rumors of a possible addiction to drugs ahead of Season 6, and in late May, she entered a Utah rehab facility for 30 days. While there, she finalized her second divorce from Jeremy Calvert. In the months prior, Messer was accused of cheating on Calvert with Robbie Kidd, just as she admitted to doing to her first husband, Corey Simms.

Despite reports of her possible drug use, sources close to Messer insisted to In Touch Weekly that she wasn’t in rehab during Season 6 to address an addiction, but rather to address her issues of stress and depression.

“With [Jenelle] and Nathan, we’ve seen their struggles and in the middle of all of that [Jenelle] is trying to get Jace back and she struggles with Kaiser as well. [Jenelle] might not have a father for Jace that she’s dealing with but she has Barbara to contend with. Chelsea has been careful to not rush into a relationship and she’s been really searching for a good guy for a long time. She meets this guy Cole and it’s really refreshing to watch this relationship grow.”

Houska met Cole DeBoer ahead of filming on Season 6, and began filming a short time later. Houska’s ex-boyfriend, Adam Lind, will also be seen during Season 6.

Teen Mom 2 Season 6 premieres tonight, July 9, at 10 p.m. on MTV.
