News of more casting changes for the Real Housewives of Atlanta continues to filter in as the reality show prepares for its eighth season. With that in mind, E! Online is reporting that Shereè Whitfield is currently in negotiations for a return to the show.
Although it has been confirmed that NeNe Leakes will not be coming back to the series and that Claudia Jordan will follow suit, Phaedra Parks, Cynthia Bailey , Kandi Burruss, and Kenya Moore are expected to return in the coming season. With the series experiencing major changes in cast members, who else might be making an appearance on the show?
According to Realty Today , former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams might be headed for a return to the show in the new season. An inside source actually revealed that “Porsha is getting her peach back. They see her much more as an asset now than in previous seasons.” The controversial Williams has been a part of the reality show in seasons past, but left the series in Season 7.
The reports that Whitfield and Williams might be joining the show in Season 8 come on the heels of the departure of one of the show’s original cast members. Despite Leakes’ departure coming as a surprise to many fans, one of her co-stars wasn’t shocked at all when the news broke.
“You know, I wasn’t surprised because I used to be very close to NeNe so I knew that at some point, she wanted to do other things,” Bailey told E! News in a recent interview. “And rightfully so because I think she has had a great run on the show.”
Meanwhile, in an interview with The Real Mr. Housewife , Bailey also revealed that she believes Leakes decided to leave because she just outgrew the show and wanted to move on to different things.
“I think in a lot of ways she’s outgrown the show. I think she has other interests that she wants to pursue… This show is an ensemble cast and when you get to that point where you are not interested in being a part of the show anymore, then you should move one.”
Although Bailey and Leakes have had their share of disagreements in the past, the former went on to state that their relationship is all good moving forward. “I’m in a cool place with NeNe right now,” Bailey stated.
A premiere date for Season 8 of the Real Housewives of Atlanta has been announced.
