Donald Trump Responds To ‘Clown’ Title, Calls Critical Pundits ‘Losers’

Shortly after Donald Trump announced his campaign for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination, the Daily News ran an article that condemned Trump’s bid, calling him nothing more than a clown who threw his “rubber nose in the GOP ring.”

As you can imagine, Trump didn’t appreciate the comparison, and it didn’t take long for him to respond. During an episode of Fox & Friends, Trump had this to say about the comments made by the Daily News.

“Well, the New York Post gave me a front-page cover that I wish you held that one up instead of the failing Daily News. The Daily News is going to be out of business very soon. It’s doing no business whatsoever. And they do that for circulation.”

The New York Post cover Trump is referring to featured Trump’s name in gold letters above The White House.

It wasn’t only the Daily News article that displeased Donald Trump. During the same Fox & Friends interview, Trump also took a swipe at political pundits who viewed his GOP bid critically. Charles Krauthammer initially called Trump’s bid an act that diminishes the legitimacy of other Republican candidates. In response, Trump went on a diatribe against Krauthammer and another pundit, George Will.

“They’re losers. They’re just losers. They sit there; they haven’t done anything. Think about it: I’ve built a $9 billion net worth. I’ve employed tens of thousands of people. I do a television show; it becomes one of the biggest shows on all of television. NBC renewed it again; they’re begging for me to do it. I write a book called ‘The Art of the Deal.’ It’s the No. 1-selling business book of all time. And I’ve got a jerk named Krauthammer or George Will saying, ‘Oh gee, he doesn’t deserve to be in the race.'”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, the tirade wasn’t the first against Krauthammer from Trump.

Trump announced his candidacy Tuesday, saying that he “will be the greatest jobs president that God ever created.”

Donald Trump, who is 69-years-old, has spoken about running for the presidency for many years. The 2016 bid marks the first time Trump has officially tried to make the idea a reality. For the 2012 election, Donald Trump launched an exploratory committee, but eventually opted not to run.

Just as it was the pundits who criticized Donald Trump’s bid, it was the pundits who pushed him to run, Trump said.

“They all said, a lot of the pundits on television, well, Donald will never run, and one of the main reasons is he’s private and he’s probably not as successful as everybody thinks. So I said to myself, you know, nobody is ever going to know unless I run because I’m really proud of my success.”
