Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Amy Reimann are engaged!
The NASCAR driver and his longtime girlfriend were vacationing in Germany during this off week in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series to learn about his heritage.
According to Fox Sports , while visiting a Lutheran church Earnhardt said his family attended 300 years ago, he decided to pop the question , and of course she said yes!
Amy later took to Twitter to share the exciting news, and added a photo of her and her new fiance, showing off her diamond ring. She captioned the photo by saying, “I’m completely overwhelmed with love & joy. Happiest girl in the world! I love you so much.”

Following Amy’s message, Dale took to Twitter also and re-tweeted Amy’s post with a caption that read, “Looking forward to the rest of my life with this amazing girl.”

Dale’s sister, Kelley Earnhardt, shared his brother’s excitement, and also re-tweeted Amy’s post. “Adding another sis-in-law to the family! Happy for my brother and his future bride! Herzlichen Glückwunsch!” she tweeted .

Dale has been researching his family’s Germanic origins for five years, and finally decided that he would actually go visit the locations in person.
“I got some specific towns that we’re going to go visit that we understand that my ancestors are from. I’ve been searching my genealogy for about five years now, and I made a promise to myself then that I would go to Germany and understand more about my ancestors when I turn 40, so here I am,” Earnhardt said in a previous report by Fox Sports .
“I’m taking my sister and LW, her husband, Larry Wayne, and Amy is going with me, of course, and the lead IT guy at JR Motorsports, Martin Frederick, he’s from Germany, so he’s going to go with us, as well, and really kind of help us understand how not to insult anybody,” Earnhardt added. “Should be a lot of fun, and I’m really looking forward to it. We should come back with some great stories. Hopefully I’ll get pictures, and we’ll certainly share.”
