Somebody call Judy Moody because Kanye West is having a bummer summer. The Grammy-award winning rapper, producer, and quasi-reality show star recently discussed his life as a family man in an interview with a New York radio station. The typically outspoken West described his day-to-day existence in somewhat underwhelming terms.
“I’m completely boring, actually … I’m so boring,” West said in an interview with New York’s Hot 97. Selected excerpts from West’s appearance were transcribed and republished by Consequence of Sound .
“All I do is go to the studio everyday … At this point I’m like, ‘I’m ridin’ through the ‘burbs with no woes. I’m not going nowhere with no woes.’ I’m not at the club … I gotta focus on the kids. I gotta take ’em to tap class and gym class.”
To be fair, West wasn’t really complaining. After all, his idea of the “‘burbs” is the multi-million dollar Hidden Hills, California, mansion that he shares with main squeeze Kim Kardashian. Variety reported on the couple’s renovation of the house late last year, placing the value of the “Kimye” estate at somewhere around $20 million. That’s a far cry from shopping for groceries at the local Wal-Mart and joining a bowling league.
But for Kanye West, spending some quiet days out of the spotlight might be a welcome change from the rigors that life on the road brings when a multi-platinum recording artist is in the mix. To be sure, West and his extended family attract a good deal of attention with virtually every move they make these days. Caitlyn Jenner ‘s transformation from a former male Olympian to the face of transgender awareness has been one of the highest of high-profile developments for the Keeping Up With the Kardashian coterie as of late. Kanye’s wife, Kim, is also expecting the couple’s second child later this year and every new public appearance brings a gaggle of celebrity watchers and their commentary on the size and shape of her burgeoning baby bump.

So don’t feel too bad for Kim Kardashian’s hubby. He just received an honorary doctorate , he’s married to a celebrity, he’s working on a new album that’ll go platinum before it even hits the shelves, and he’s admired by millions upon millions of people around the world. If that’s what it means to lead a boring life, we should all be so lucky to someday be as uninteresting as Kanye West.
