Pizza Hut To Debut Hot Dog Bites Pizza
Pizza Hut has debuted what may be their most creative addition to their menu yet… a hot dog pizza!
Think of an ordinary pizza, but with one small difference- the crust is made out of 28 tiny hot dogs. The hot dog bites are wrapped in a pretzel-like crust and are made to be pulled off and dipped in mustard. The original pies had the hot dogs baked into the crust horizontally.
Pizza Hut, which is owned by Yum! Brands Inc., will be debuting their new Hot Dog Bites Pizza on June 18 at its 6,300 domestic restaurants, according to Bloomberg. The pizza chain will have approximately 1.5 million of the new pies available at the price point of $11.99, and will be selling them until July 11, or until the supply runs out.

“The large one-topping pizza, featuring 28 premium hot dog bites baked into the crust, is served with a side of French’s mustard for $11.99,” Pizza Hut said in a news release, according to Business Insider UK.
“Unlike international variations, the Hot Dog Bites Pizza available in the United States, while supplies last, will be surrounded by 28 bite-sized hot dogs baked into the crust,” the release added. “Perfect for dipping into the free side of French’s mustard.”
Pizza Hut first started selling their hot dog pizzas in Asia in 2011. They have also been sold in the U.K., Thailand, Australia, Canada and the Middle East. However, this will mark the first time that they have been sold in the United States.
“Our U.S. fans have been asking for it ever since they saw it pop up around the world,” Doug Terfehr, a Pizza Hut spokesman, said. “We wanted to do it in a way that matched what the consumer would expect from these products, which they definitely love on their own.”
Greg Creed, Yum’s chief executive officer, said he isn’t thrilled with how the Pizza Hut chain has performed since they debuted their new menu last year. He fears that their marketing strategies have lost sight of their “mainstream pizza customers” in favor of chasing the millennials with the new ideas.
