‘Outlander’ Season 2 Spoilers: Sam Heughan Spotted Filming Again, Plus Showrunner Ron Moore Promises ‘Twists’ From The Book

Outlander is already in production for its second season in Scotland, and the news is traveling fast. Fans were treated to a sneak peek at the coming season after a few photos of the cast and crew were released online.

The photos released on Twitter show Sam Hueghan and Caitriona Balfe in costume getting ready for a scene. Bale is seen wearing a period brown dress in one photo while another image shows Balfe and Hueghan kissing.

Season 2 of Outlander will focus on the couple as they travel to France and get involved with the Parisian political scene. On that note, Ron Moore recently explained to TVLine that Jamie’s family will play a large role in the coming season.

“In a lot of ways, [Parisian society] is more familiar to him in certain ways than you would anticipate, because he is a laird in his own life, and he has lived in France, and he speaks the French language. It is a somewhat familiar culture to him. He does know his cousin, Jared, who runs a wine business, and he’s been to this place. Claire also speaks French, and she’s adapting in a different way, but she still struggles with the roles woman in these times, even in French society,” Moore stated.

Meanwhile, TVWise is reporting that Audrey Brisson will join the new season as Sister Angelique, who fans of the books know Claire befriends while working at a Paris hospital.

Speaking of the books, Zap2it recently spoke with Moore and asked if he was going to follow along with the book Dragonfly in Amber in season 2. Those fans who have read the books know when you start book 2, you may be confused for a few chapters.

“To an extent. We are playing around with the structure of it, the surprise of it. And we have some ideas for some twists that we think would surprise even the readers of the books. It is interesting, when you open the second book, and you’re like, ‘Wait a minute, did I miss something?’ Which is great on one level, because any time you can surprise an audience, that’s gold. They get used to knowing what’s going to happen next. So, I want to preserve that, but I think there’s way to tinker with it, and play around with it so it’s not quite as jarring, so you don’t feel like you’ve clicked into the wrong show,” Moore said.

Season 2 of Outlander is expected to premiere sometime in 2016.
