Rihanna to Elle Magazine: ‘I Guess I’m Challenging’

In an exclusive interview with Elle Magazine, the controversial singer Rihanna expresses the every day challenges of what it’s like to be someone of her stature while trying to be open to the dating scene.

Candid now more than ever, Rihanna explains how it felt to be in the middle of the media frenzy surrounding her domestic problems with ex Chris Brown. She says of the 2009 domestic dispute, “I was like, well, f—k. They know more about me than I want them to know. It’s embarrassing. But that was my opening.”

She goes on to explain how her public revelations changed her as a person, stating, “That was my liberation, my moment of bring it. I wanted people to know who I am. Whatever they take that to be, good or bad, I just want them to know the truth.”

Rihanna seems to want to spread her truth now more than ever with the incident behind her. When asked about how difficult it is to date, the singer doesn’t mince her truthful words as she explains her frustration. “I guess I’m challenging, because my job seems to affect every relationship I have or try to have. Even with people I think should get it, you know? That seems to be a big factor; it’s always an issue.”

However, when it comes to the future she’s optimistic about love and her journey as a woman stating, “I just need to find the person who balances me out, because then things like my schedule won’t matter. I’ve done it before, so I know I can do it again. I have more freedom the more people know about me,” she adds. “It’s like, one less skeleton in the closet, one less burden, one less secret; now you know that, so you can say what you want about it. I don’t have anything to hide.”
