Did we just get a Star Wars: The Force Awakens flight sequence leaked online? If this is in fact it, it looks amazing.

According to Star Wars 7 News , Rhye Copeman, the stunt coordinator of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, posted a video to Instagram that shows an impressive stunt choreography. A few months ago, there was a rumor floating around that one of the actual fight sequences for the blockbuster had leaked online, but it was later deemed to be just a video put together for fun.
“It shows two fighters facing each other with training swords. On the right you have one man holding a weapon that is the size of a traditional sword or lightsaber. On the left, his opponent wields something more the size of a staff or polearm. Most intriguingly, the title of the video on the screen being filmed reads ‘Sequence 1 in Hero Fight.’ “
In other words, a lot of signs that this could actually be a Star Wars: The Force Awakens fight sequence. Either that or it’s something completely innocent, like Copeman suggested way back.
The interesting part is that last month, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy spoke about Rey (Daisy Ridley) and her fighting style. The Star Wars: The Force Awakens new cast member has been trained in the martial arts style called Bojutsu.
“She learned the bojutsu fighting style. Rey uses the staff she has in the trailer to fight. Daisy’s gotten to be so good at bojutsu that even grown men on the set fear it.”
The speculation is that this reported glimpse at a Star Wars: The Force Awakens fight sequence could be a confrontation between Rey and the villain, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). In the promotional images released by director J.J. Abrams at the Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, we saw Rey carrying a staff, much like what is seen in the video.
But this appears to be no ordinary staff if it can withstand the power of a lightsaber. It could be possible that it either has a lightsaber within or has some other magical properties. According to Kennedy, Ridley has become quite proficient, and even the stuntmen are afraid of her fighting skills.
According to Star Wars 7 News Cantina user Altgr0160 — who spotted the video originally on Vimeo months ago — Copeman posted what we believe is a Star Wars: The Force Awakens fight sequence with the caption “Luke” and “Darth.”
