‘Modern-Day Bonnie And Clyde’ Teen Couple In Custody After Alleged Crime Spree

A teen couple, dubbed a “modern-day Bonnie and Clyde,” have been apprehended in West Virginia. The couple is accused of a crime spree spreading across three states. Parents of the 16-year-old boy and 15-year-old girl reported the couple missing on Monday, stating they feared for their safety. The boy is from Upper Sandusky while the teenage girl is from Sycamore in northwest Ohio. It’s unclear at this time if charges against the two have been filed.

The Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office confirmed at noon on Saturday the “modern-day Bonnie and Clyde” couple were taken into custody by the West Virginia State Police. According to authorities, after crashing a stolen vehicle in Pennsylvania, the teens fled on foot and were caught. The couple had a gun when they were arrested.

The teen couple may be connected with a series of crimes including armed robbery, car theft, and fleeing from police. They’re accused of stealing a truck from Upper Sandusky on Monday and allegedly took shotgun shells from a Walmart in Bucyrus, 20 miles east of Upper Sandusky. The truck was found Wednesday in Pennsylvania, more than 260 miles away from where it was allegedly stolen, and another vehicle was reported as stolen.

The teens are then accused of trying to rob a convenience store in Pennsylvania with a gun on Thursday. Authorities say police were called to the P&W mini-mart in Elizabeth Township in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, after the attempted robbery. When the teens reportedly fled the scene, a police officer was hurt when he grabbed onto the trailer hitch of the vehicle and was dragged for a distance before falling off. Wooded areas in the county were searched to no avail.

Police Chief David Kerestes told WTAE, “We got a modern-day Bonnie and Clyde out here from Ohio. I can’t even imagine how they ended up in little Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania.”

The Ohio teens aren’t the only ones known as a “modern-day Bonnie and Clyde.” Back in January, the Inquisitr reported a different teen couple known by the same moniker were caught in Florida.

The teenage duo were the focus of an intense manhunt with dozens of responders looking for the teens. The couple is believed to have hidden in wooded areas when they were on the run. According to authorities, the parents of the teens have been notified of the pair’s arrest and are on their way to New Martinsville, West Virginia, to speak with authorities.
