WWE: Roman Reigns’ Next Program May Just Restore Your Faith In Creative

Roman Reigns has had a career of peaks and valleys since it was determined that he would be the future face of the WWE by none other than Vince McMahon himself.

Fans rejected the idea after the Shield broke up, and Roman had an injury that put him out of action for a few months.

When he came back and won the Royal Rumble, the night ended with his arm raised in the air by The Rock, and fans issuing thunderous boos that resulted in a notorious hashtag and what many claim were altered plans for the main event at WrestleMania 31.

But after WrestleMania went down and former Shield mate Seth Rollins ended up with the belt instead, Reigns started to enjoy something of a resurgence.

He did this with a highly entertaining bout at Fastlane against Daniel Bryan, and then at Extreme Rules with a show-stealer against the Big Show.

(That mini-Shield reunion at Payback 2015 certainly didn’t hurt his stock either.)

Now, Cageside Seats reports that Roman Reigns’ next major opponent has been decided, and while it probably isn’t something that will have you coming out of your seat with joy and excitement, it makes perfect sense from a creative standpoint.

Kane.

As an in-ring talent, Kane definitely has more days behind him than in front, especially when it comes to the title picture and main event status. But most wrestlers agree he’s one of the greats when it comes to his in-ring work and ring psychology.

Ric Flair, whom many believe to be the greatest wrestler of all time, has even called him the “best in the world.”

When you have a guy like Roman Reigns, who is building momentum slowly but surely, you want him in there with a veteran he can learn from.

Example: many bashed the Reigns-Big Show program until they saw how spectacularly it concluded at Extreme Rules. It was certainly a feather in the cap for Reigns, and this feud will be more of the same.

It’s almost as if WWE has figured out there is life in the Roman Reigns character, provided they actually develop his talent instead of forcing him down an unready fan base’s throat.

While you may not agree, Inquisitr wrestling fans, the high-quality PPVs and the company’s current handling of Roman Reigns — especially if Kane does become his next opponent — is enough to restore faith in the company’s writers. But what do you think? Sound off in the comments section below.
