WWE News: The Rock Not Ruling Out A Match With Triple H At ‘WrestleMania 32’ — Will It Happen?

When The Rock made his return to WWE back in 2011, he promised that he was “never, ever going away.” Since he made that statement, he hasn’t drifted too far away from WWE, and, if nothing else, he always seems to come around during WrestleMania season. In fact, The Rock hasn’t missed a single WrestleMania since he returned to WWE.

The last time we saw The Rock compete in a WWE ring was in 2013, at WrestleMania 29 against John Cena, and, unfortunately due to the injuries that he suffered in that match, WWE’s plans of having The Rock take on Brock Lesnar at the next year’s WrestleMania 30 were nixed, and The Rock didn’t rule out the possibility of his match with John Cena being his last.

Now, The Rock isn’t ruling out a return to the ring, and this time, it could be against his longtime rival and WWE’s Chief Operating Officer, Triple H. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, The Rock expressed his interest in returning to the ring at next year’s WrestleMania 32.

“Myself, [WWE chairman Vince McMahon], Triple H have talked about creating something that is amazing. Any time for me, going back into the WWE, especially if it’s a match — and these guys know this because of the open dialogue between me and Triple H — the question is, can we create, in terms of a promotional scale for the fans, something better than what we did in Miami and back-to-back in New York with John Cena? Can we put together something that’s different but equally, if not more, exciting? So there’s a lot of elements involved that we continue to talk about and chop up. That’s the coolest part about the relationship I have with the McMahons, including Triple H.

Look, the platform is there. You have Dallas and could set an attendance record, so that’s the first goal. And then what is the match that allows us to do that? I’ve had incredible matches with Triple H, so I’m not ruling it out, but I’m not saying it is going to happen. We continue to talk about it, and we’re still shooting each other text messages. He sent me a message from Dallas that said, ‘This could be us. The record is ours.’ So we’ll see.”

The Rock vs. Triple H probably wouldn’t be the main-event of next year’s WrestleMania, especially if WWE gets their wish and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin makes his return to the ring. Furthermore, The Rock vs. Triple H isn’t nearly as big of a match as John Cena vs. The Rock was, due to the fact that The Rock and Triple H have wrestled so many times in the past.

Since returning to WWE, The Rock has made it clear that if he was going to wrestle, he’d want it to be something special. Of course, the idea of wrestling in front of 100,000 people at AT&T Stadium would be special by itself. However, The Rock wants to make sure that he’s in there with the right opponent, and that he’s doing something that the WWE fans can really sink their teeth into.
