WWE Breaking News: Kevin Owens Makes WWE ‘RAW’ Debut, Attacks John Cena

John Cena’s United States Championship open challenge has been the highlight of WWE television as of late, and with Cena retaining his U.S. Title at last night’s WWE Payback, the weekly U.S. open challenge carries on. Who accepted the challenge this week? That would be none other than the NXT Champion Kevin Owens. Well, kind of.

Cena came out, cut his regular promo, and began the United States Championship open challenge. Owens then came out with his NXT Championship belt, and the two went face to face. Cena then tried to offer Owens a bit of veteran advice, which Owens scoffed at, telling Cena that he didn’t need his advice because he has been wrestling for a lot longer than Cena. Owens then declined to participate in John Cena’s open challenge but attacked him anyway.

Before the attack, Owens promised that this would not be the last time he and John Cena would be face to face, which may mean that he is coming up to the WWE main roster at some point in the near future.

The purpose of Owens’ appearance was to promote his NXT Title defense against Sami Zayn at this Wednesday’s NXT Takeover show on the WWE Network. Zayn, who separated his shoulder during his match with John Cena on RAW several weeks ago, is apparently healthy enough to compete at NXT Takeover, but Owens is expected to retain the title.

Whenever Owens does make his main roster debut, due to him laying Cena out, it’s likely that he’ll immediately begin a feud with the U.S. Champ.

Update: Kevin Owens will face John Cena at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.
