The much-watched Mayweather-Pacquiao mega-fight , as reported by the Inquisitr , has been buzzed about online, with plenty of replay videos and commentary filling the web. Now the latest reports of Mayweather deciding to relinquish all of his title belts have caused new buzz to fill the Interwebs.

Mayweather won 48-0 over Manny Pacquiao for the WBO welterweight title on Saturday evening at the MGM Grand Las Vegas. However, Floyd’s latest announcement that he plans to relinquish all of his title championship belts, making his final fight a non-title affair, has surprised the world. It was during a press conference after the much-ballyhooed Fight of the Century mega-fight that 38-year-old Floyd stated he’d give up his belts on Monday , reports CBS Sports .

“For my team to hand me a $100 million check is remarkable.”

Floyd’s win by a unanimous decision was followed by Mayweather’s shocking decision to relinquish his titles in order to pave the way for young boxers to gain more opportunities to accomplish everything that Floyd has accomplished in the sport that he loves. Mayweather went on to make it clear that although relinquishing his belts might not happen on Monday, Floyd does plan to seriously consider giving up his belts.

“I don’t know if it’s Monday, maybe in a couple of weeks. I’ll speak to my team…”

More controversy erupted over the mega-fight as Pacquiao spoke of dealing with an injury to his right shoulder during training, one that reportedly affected his fighting ability — especially in light of reports that he wasn’t allowed to get a shot to treat the injury in the locker room.

Mayweather, meanwhile, has plans to retire after his September fight — fight number 49 for Floyd and his final bout — so the titles mean nothing but bragging rights — and perhaps are an obstacle due to sanctioning fees that must be paid associated with the titles. It was a routine win for “Money Mayweather” as he garnered his fifth title belt for his championship belt collection, which includes three welterweight and two junior middleweight straps.

Although Freddie Roach wants a rematch mega-fight, Floyd dismissed that suggestion.

“I might relinquish my belts… I think my last fight may not be a championship fight.”
