Thanksgiving isn’t just about about giving thanks with a big turkey dinner with friends and family anymore. Instead, many consumers who are anxious to get a great deal on a new TV, the latest video game, or the hottest toys on their Christmas shopping list will be rushing out the door to the pre- Black Friday sales on November 26.

Although CNN reports that retailers expect poor holiday sales this year, it certainly doesn’t sound like there will be a shortage of shoppers judging from all of the Black Friday chatter online. Consumers who plan to head out on Thanksgiving to score a few holiday deals at big box retailers like Best Buy, Target, and Walmart, will find the stores open and filled with discounted merchandise. However, just like last year, some stores have decided that their employees need a break, so they are closing their stores on Thanksgiving Day.

Which stores will be closed on Thanksgiving? The number keeps growing, but it doesn’t outweigh the retailers who have decided that opening their doors for doorbuster deals is far more important than enjoying that last slice of pumpkin pie on Thursday night. Last year, Think Progres s reported that less than 20 retailers were closed on the holiday, but for 2015, there are at least 10 more stores that have decided to stay closed.

According to Deal News , at least 30 major retailers will be closed on Thanksgiving including Nordstrom, Staples, Gamestop, Lowe’s, Barnes and Noble, and Harbor Freight Tools. If you’re headed out to buy pet supplies, Petco and Petsmart will be closed as well.

All TJX stores will not be open on the holiday, including Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and Homegoods. Costco and BJs will not open on Thanksgiving, as well as DSW, Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and Babies R Us. REI states that they will stay closed on both Thanksgiving and Black Friday.

Many stores will be offering their Black Friday deals online on Thanksgiving and that’s great news for shoppers who do not want to move off the couch after they eat a big holiday meal.
