The price of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is no laughing matter. Those who put off buying the 2013 sports car model may regret waiting.
Chevy’s latest Corvette model will have a starting price of $51,995, including a $995 charge for delivery. The price is $1,400 more than the current version. And for those who want a convertible? That’ll cost at least $56,995.
But while the price is higher, C7 owners will get a little more for their money than they did with the 2013 model. The base version of the 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray will match the power and performance of the mid-range 2013 Corvette Z06.
The seventh generation Corvette will have a 6.2-liter LT1 V-8 engine and produces 450 horsepower. Buyers will be able to choose from a seven-speed manual transmission with rev-matching, or a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters.
And to make sure drivers get the most for their money when it comes to horsepower, Chevy also shaved off almost 100 pounds from the new model using a carbon fiber hood and removable roof panel for the coupe, along with an all-aluminum frame.
The new frame also improved the car’s stiffness by 57 percent. Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet marketing, stated:
“The [2014] Corvette Stingray delivers a combination of performance, design and technology that very few manufacturers can match, and none can even come close for $52,000.”
Both models will also contain improved interior materials and a touchscreen based infotainment system. While the base model for the 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray is fantastic to begin with, there are a few options worth noting that will make the company’s iconic sports car even better.
Notably, the Corvette will offer a magnetic active suspension system for $1,795. Another option will be a Z51 suspension package priced at $2,800 and a full leather-wrapped interior upgrade for $8,005. A fully-loaded 2014 Corvette will cost about $73,360.
