2010 Cleveland Browns Preview

So far I really like the job Mike Holmgren has done starting to rebuild this team. However there is a ton of work left to do, and I just don’t see how things well be much better. Sure Browns fans are glad Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn are gone, but I don’t think that was the core of the problems on this team. To be frank, it seems that this team has been mismanaged; sure Holmgren is here to right the Browns ship but he needs more time.

Of course Jake Delhomme has been brought in to run the offense in the short term. The smart thing here is Holmgren went out and got Seneca Wallace as an insurance policy. He also drafted Colt McCoy has a long term project. That is how things should be done in the NFL. Another problem is the injury history of RB Montario Hardesty, already he is missing time in training camp with a twisted knee. Sure he is a hard runner, but he is of injured and that is a very bad thing. Beyond Joshua Cribbs, this team still needs some help in the WR corps, but the plus is the O line looks to be fairly steady.

The team will run a base 3-4 defense, and it may be a young group with out a clear leader. However it has a lot of potential. Joe Haden and Erik Wright will be the starting corners with TJ Ward and Abram Elam behind them at safety. I have questions about their Linebackers, and most of their defensive line.

Cribbs will be the featured kick and punt returner on special teams. Phil Dawson will serve as the kicker; with Dave Zastudil as the punter. All in all it is an average unit, with Cribbs always waiting to break a big return.
