Coast Guard Crash Graphic Created To Remember CG-6535 Crew

The Coast Guard Compass, the official blog of the U.S. Coast Guard, has released a graphic to memorialize the people who died in the helicopter crash last Tuesday.

The site is inviting people to download the photo and save it as their profile image on sites like Facebook and Twitter. The Coast Guard Compass writes:

“On behalf of the Coast Guard family, we at Coast Guard Compass want to thank all of you for the outpouring of support and prayers following the tragic loss of four Coast Guardsmen when Coast Guard helicopter CG-6535 crashed in Mobile Bay on Tuesday evening… We invite you to download the image above and join us in making this image your social media profile photo in solidarity with the service and in tribute to the crew of CG-6535.”

The Coast Guard helicopter crashed into Mobile Bay on Tuesday night. The cause of the crash is not known but is currently under investigation.

CNN reports that the Coast Guard has found three bodies since the crash and suspended rescue missions this morning. Captain Donald J. Rose said:

“The decision to suspend the active search was terribly difficult. We saturated 95% of Mobile Bay for nearly two days with both aircraft and boats to thoroughly cover the search area. Now, we must shift our focus to continuing salvage and recovery operations. As we continue to recover wreckage, we will look for the missing crewman.”

You can download the image above in memory of Lt. Cmdr. Dale Taylor, Lt. j.g. Thomas Cameron, Chief Petty Officer Fernando Jorge and Petty Officer 3rd Class Andrew Knight.
