Stephen Colbert To Publish Children’s Book About A Pole
Comedy Central’s very own pundit of humor Stephen Colbert is about to take his brand of silly to the world of Children’s literature.
Inspired by a two-part interview he conducted with Maurice Sendak, author of Where the Wild Things Are, Colbert has signed a deal with Grand Central Publishing to write a children’s book about a pole.
The book is titled I Am a Pole (And So Can You!) is set for a May 8 release and Colbert had this to say about the book:
“It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to write a children’s book. I hope the minutes you and your loved ones spend reading it are as fulfilling as the minutes I spent writing it.”
When interviewing Sendak the Colbert Report host told the 83-year-old author that he was working on a children’s book of his own to “cash in” on the celebrity children’s book craze that has watched the likes of Madonna and Bill O’Reilly launch books of their very own.
After that interview went viral Grand Central began receiving numerous requests from Stephen Colbert fans who wanted to get their hands on the book the moment it releases.
If you’re a fan of Stephen Colbert you’ll probably recognize the title of the new children’s book as a play on his New York Times best selling book for adults titled I Am America (And So Can You!).
Will you be running out to pick up I Am a Pole (And So Can You!) when it arrives on May 8?
