WWE News: Brock Lesnar’s New WWE Contract Seen As A Long-Term Investment?

Brock Lesnar’s WWE contract changed the landscape of professional wrestling in 2015. There was speculation inside and outside of the WWE that Lesnar would jump ship to the UFC. Lesnar even admitted that he was training for a UFC return for the past two months. However, after a year-long conundrum, Lesnar decided to remain with the WWE for another three years.

It’s rumored that Lesnar will receive $1 million a year for three years. That’s not confirmed, so take that as a rumor at the moment. In an earlier report by the Inquisitr, the UFC offered Brock Lesnar 10 times as much money as the WWE. Even that couldn’t lure Lesnar back to the UFC. UFC’s Dana White was caught by TMZ’s cameras and gave Lesnar “his blessing.”

To fans, this contract extension is huge for the WWE. This allows the WWE to have multiple options for the WrestleMania main event. If Lesnar had not signed a new WWE contract, Reigns winning was the only option at WrestleMania. Now, the WWE is swimming in possibilities.

How does WWE see the new contract with Brock Lesnar? According to Daily Wrestling News, it’s not seen as a short-term plan to put WWE fans in the seats, but rather a long-term “investment.”

“WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar’s new three-year contract reportedly includes a significant downside guarantee also. Lesnar’s new deal is full-time pay for part-time work and while that’s not the norm, it’s seen more as an investment.

“Vince McMahon has changed his mind on using part-time talent, especially when it comes to helping to build up the WWE Network.”

Also included in the report was the fact that WrestleMania 32 will be easier to fill now because Lesnar is guaranteed to be there. Will that theory work? There’s a good chance that Lesnar will main event WrestleMania 32 with the Rock. That being a rumor for now, it’s one that WWE is discussing.

A match like that would sell out AT&T Stadium in a matter of hours. On top of that, Roman Reigns expressed his interest in an all-Shield triple threat match at WrestleMania. It wouldn’t matter who were the heels or faces that night. The entire WWE Universe would cheer on Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Seth Rollins. All three men are the future of World Wrestling Entertainment.

On top of both of those blockbuster matches, the Undertaker and Sting hopefully will wrestle each other at WrestleMania 32 in their retirement match. WWE is doing what the WWE Universe has been wanting for years. They are finally thinking long-term. Once that thinking expresses itself onto the product, the WWE will get even better than they already are.
