Kelly Clarkson’s Soulful Rendition Of Tracy Chapman’s ‘Give Me One Reason’ Will Give You Chills
We all know Kelly Clarkson is a great singer, but her recent cover of Tracy Chapman’s 1996 bluesy hit “Give Me One Reason” makes it hard not to appreciate her incredible vocal chops.
Clarkson performed the song during her SiriusXM Hits 1 appearance earlier this week – with a rendition that is not only powerful and a bit haunting, but teaming with grit and soul.
This is not the first time Clarkson has performed a rendition of this song, which has been covered by a number of artists in the past, including Eric Clapton who did a famous duet with Chapman back in the 90s.
Over the years, Clarkson has put her vocal spin on songs by other artists like Adele, Justin Timberlake and even Eminem, but her cover of Chapmans’ “Give Me One Reason” had a certain level of poignance that is soulfully fitting for the rich, chilling power of the blues.
Check out Clarkson’s stirring rendition of the song (which should definitely be followed up by a blues album), and have a look at Chapman’s performance of the original version below.
