New Netflix Movies, TV In April: Marvel’s ‘Daredevil’ Debut, Plus ‘Sons Of Anarchy’ Final Season
The Netflix streaming service released what looks like a solid schedule of movies and TV shows in April, highlighted by the debut of the Marvel Comics series Daredevil, the first of five collaborations between Marvel and Netflix.
All 13 episodes of Daredevil, based on the long-running Marvel Comic about Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who doubles by night as a costumed crimefighter — essentially Marvel’s answer to DC Comics’ Batman — appear on Netflix April 10.
Season 7 — the final season — of the FX cable network cult favorite biker gang drama Sons of Anarchy also hits Netflix on April 25, while April 8 sees the full first season of AMC Network’s tech drama about the birth of the personal computer industy in the early 1980s, Halt and Catch Fire, make its appearance on Netflix.
Among the feature movie offerings on Netflix in April, the widely-praised Australian horror flick The Babadook will be available to scare online viewers April 14.
With a Rotten Tomatoes critics score of 98 percent favorable, the 2014 chiller is the most critically acclaimed horror film in years, and centers on the dysfunctional relationship between a prematurely widowed mom and her emotionally troubled young son — and what happens to that relationship when a monster from the boy’s nightmares, the “Babadook” of the title, seems to become real.
The Biblical epic Noah, starring Russell Crowe and a cast of thousands of CGI animals, hits Netflix on April 18, while three installments of the seemingly endless, tongue-in-cheek Leprechaun film franchise will all debut on — when else — April 1. They include the classics, Leprechaun 4: In Space, and Leprechaun 6, Back 2 tha Hood.
