‘Suicide Squad’: Details Of Jared Leto’s Joker, Surprise Character Teased

Jared Leto will allegedly base his upcoming performance of the Joker in Suicide Squad on the incarnation from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns.

This rumor has come from Latino Review’s Umberto Gonzales, who took to his Instagram account to make the revelation. This would make sense, because all of the images and information that has been released regarding Ben Affleck’s Batman suggests that suggests that DC’s Cinematic Universe will be inspired by Millar’s comic.

Gonzalez wrote, “What I’m being told, Leto’s Joker is definitely based on The Dark Knight Returns version. He’s lean and scarred but his suit does have broad shoulders.”

He also divulged information on a few potential scenes from Suicide Squad that explain why The Joker looks like he does.

“Joker works out in his cell like an inmate when is interrogated by Amanda Waller. He’s doing hand stand push up so it makes sense that Jared Leto said he is putting on weight. He’s definitely not skinny, but in fact muscular. He has bleached skin not make up.”

Meanwhile, Gonzalez also alleged that Jared Leto’s Joker will have killed one of Batman’s sidekicks, while there will also be many references to his past crimes, murders and misdemeanours.

It’s also been speculated that the Joker will spend a lot of time with Hugo Strange in the blockbuster, a super-villain who has previously gone up against Batman on a number of occasions himself.

In Suicide Squad, Hugo Strange will play the psychiatrist at Joker’s prison. However there currently isn’t much else known about the character’s involvement in David Ayer’s film, as his casting hasn’t even been teased.

Gonzalez also alleged that Strange will have contact with Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn in the blockbuster too.

Suicide Squad will be the third edition to DC’s shared cinematic universe, having already been preceded by 2013’s Man Of Steel. Next up for the series is 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, which will be released five months before Suicide Squad hits cinemas.

Following Suicide Squad’s release, Wonder Woman and Justice League Part One will hit cinemas in 2017, 2018 will see The Flash and Aquaman released, Shazam and Justice League Part Two will come in 2019, while Cyborg and Green Lantern are expected in 2020.

Suicide Squad will star Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Viola Davis, and Joel Kinnaman, and it will hit cinemas on August 5, 2016.
