‘Game Of Thrones’: New Trailer Released, Episodes Will Air Simultaneously Worldwide (Video)
Game of Thrones released a new trailer for Season 5, which debuts April 12, and it looks like Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) is out for everyone’s blood in this new season, comparing the families fighting for the crown to spokes of a wheel constantly turning. A wheel that one little lady with dragons and a massive army is set on crushing, as she explains in the Game of Thrones trailer narration.
“Lannister. Baratheon. Stark. Tyrell. They’re all just spokes on a wheel. This one’s on top, then that one’s on top, and on and on it spins, crushing those on the ground. I’m not going to stop the wheel. I’m going to break the wheel.”
The clip offers brief moments flashing by, but one particular spoiler caught by Den of Geek shows Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) in the crypts of Winterfell, so the long-suffering daughter of the nearly extinct Stark clan will make her way home.
In the Game of Thrones trailer, we also see Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) in Dorne. Will he go there by choice or will he have to run from Cersei’s wrath, as she’ll surely suspect him in Tyrion’s escape? Or maybe he’ll convince Cersei (Lena Headey) to trust him and go there to ensure the safety of her daughter?
It also appears that there will be a deadly battle in Dany’s city of Mereen, departing from the novels. In fact, the Game of Thrones clip paints the Brazen Beasts in a rather menacing light toward their queen, as opposed to a supportive role in the books.
The Game of Thrones trailer also shows a lot of characters in wintry conditions, which is not surprising given the impending showdown in the north between humankind and the White Walkers marching south toward The Wall. This common enemy that can destroy them all may be the only thing that can unite so many splintered factions and families.
Speaking of spoilers, international fans have complained for years about spoilers before a show airs in their country, but that won’t be a problem any more for international Game of Thrones fans. HBO announced that for this season’s premiere, the network is going to try something new by broadcasting new episodes at the same time worldwide. In fact, they’ll be able to catch the newest Game of Thrones episode at the same time all season, according to Venture Beat.
Starting April 12, more than 170 countries will be able to tune into Game of Thrones at 9 p.m. ET for the entire 10 week run of the season.
