WWE News: Vince McMahon Could Be Elevating Stephanie McMahon And Triple H’s Roles With WWE Board Shakeup

The WWE appears to be preparing for life after Vince McMahon, and Stephanie McMahon will play a big part of it.

On Thursday, the company announced that Stephanie as well as Triple H have been elected to its board of directors. The move is seen as part Vince McMahon’s plan to give greater control of the company to his daughter and son-in-law.

Stephanie McMahon has been serving as the WWE’s chief brand officer, which the company noted includes “leading the company’s efforts to further enhance its global brand reputation among key constituencies including business partners, advertisers, media, investors and the public sector.”

Triple H, whose real name is Paul Levesque, serves as executive vice president in charge of talent, live events, and creative endeavors. His work includes some big projects, including the roll-out of the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, which serves as home to the WWE’s talent development system, NXT.

In a statement announcing the board appointments, Vince McMahon noted that both Stephanie McMahon and Triple H (along with Mashable‘s chief technology officer, Robyn Peterson, who was also elected to the board) would play an important role in the WWE’s future.

“The appointments of Stephanie, Paul, and Robyn to WWE’s Board of Directors will be invaluable to the company as we continue to transform our business and look toward a new era of unprecedented growth,” said WWE Chairman & Chief Executive Officer Vince McMahon. “I am confident that our Board of Directors and senior management team is stronger than ever and well-positioned for future success.”

There have been reports in recent months that Vince McMahon may be preparing to decrease his role and hand more power over to Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. The WWE’s CEO was able to survive a rocky patch that included the WWE Network and a big drop in the company’s stock price, a time when some well-connected stockholders were reportedly trying to push McMahon out.

There are conflicting reports on Vince McMahon’s future, however. In a recent appearance on Chris Jericho’s podcast, Talk is Jericho, Triple H said that Vince would like to run the WWE until he dies. Wrestling News noted the following.

“Jericho asked Triple H if Vince would ever step down from the company, to which Hunter confidently said no.

HHH then went on to explain that Vince works more hours than ever before nowadays and rarely gets sleep. According to the King of Kings, Vince perceives exhaustion as an enemy and deals with it by training at the gym.

Triple H also states that he is not being groomed to take over the company, and that if he does it will be because Vince McMahon has passed away.”

While his retirement date may still be unknown, Vince McMahon appears to be gradually giving more power and responsibility to Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. In a recent interview, he said the WWE will “change for the better” after he dies because it will involve more people with leadership roles, noting that “there’s no one person who can do all that I can do because of my background. There’s no one individual who’s going to take my place.”
