Rumors about Harry Styles are hardly in short supply, but in recent months, speculation has been growing that the popular boy band may just be on its last legs. Harry Styles and his band mates, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, and Niall Horan, were brought together on Simon Cowell’s reality TV show X-Factor in 2010 and have gone on to become a massive worldwide success.
Harry Styles and his pals have become teen idols and are recognized everywhere they go. Several members of the band have commented on how difficult life on the road can be, as they tend to spend most of their time locked in hotel rooms as large crowds of fans gather outside their hotels. In recent months, Harry and other members of the band have been linked with projects outside of One Direction.
There have been stories linking 21-year-old Harry Styles with a possible movie career, Zayn Malik has been in the studio working with Naughty Boy and has reportedly been offered a role in a sitcom. Liam Payne was recently in the studio with rapper Juicy J and rumors have suggested that Louis Tomlinson is also considering life after One Direction.
The Daily Mail is reporting that Harry Styles has been in the studio in Hollywood with renowned producer Johan Carlsson. Carlsson told the Mail that he and Styles were “just writing songs and seeing if we can come up with something cool.” Apparently, the pair worked together in a private LA recording studio “several days a week for four weeks” during Harry’s recent stay in LA. This is the first time that someone close to Styles has confirmed that Harry has been working on solo material, and it fuels speculation that a solo album could be on the cards.
Carlsson, who co-wrote Ariana Grande’s hit “Just a Little Bit of Your Heart” with Styles, said that Harry is “such a good songwriter, it’s an honour to write music with him.”
“He’s fantastic with the words and he can really put down lyrics that are very conversational and people can relate to. We’re just having a good time.”
Kpopstarz reports that this is not the first time speculation has arisen about Harry Styles going solo.
Last year, a spokesperson for One Direction had to release a statement, saying, “Harry has no current plans to release any solo material – his focus is on writing and recording the new One Direction album, and then the world tour which continues in 2015.”
That tour kicked off in Australia earlier this month and has now moved to Japan, where Harry Styles and the band will play six shows before moving on to other locations throughout Asia.
