Presidents’ Day Post Office Hours: Is There Mail Delivery February 16?

Is the post office open and will mail be delivered on Presidents’ Day? While retail stores, restaurants, and even a few banks will be open on February 16, the U.S. Post Office will be closed on the federal holiday. Postal employees will be enjoying a day off on Monday, but all USPS services will resume on Tuesday.

This isn’t the only federal holiday observed by the post office. According to the United States Postal Service, there are seven more federal holidays coming up in 2015 — Memorial Day (May 25) is next on the list.

If you can’t wait until Tuesday to send out a package, UPS will be open and deliveries will be made to homes and businesses on Monday. FedEx is also operating on a regular weekday schedule — the company provides normal pickup and delivery service on Presidents’ Day and three other federal holidays, including Martin Luther King Day, Columbus Day, and Veterans Day.

In addition to the post office, most federal offices, including Social Security Administration and the Internal Revenue Service, are closed. The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) will also be closed on Presidents’ Day, and federal courts will also be shut down for the day. Schools and public libraries will not be open, with many schools closed not only on Monday, but for the entire week for winter vacation.

According to a previous report from the Inquisitr, most banks and credit unions are closed on February 16, with the exception of TD Bank. There are over 1,200 TD Bank branches on the East Coast and they will all be open regular business hours on Monday.

With the U.S. Post Office, state, and federal offices, most banks and schools closed, is there anything open on Presidents’ Day?

If you like to shop, you’re in luck. Big box stores, including Walmart and Target, will be open regular hours on Monday. In fact, most retail stores will be open on February 16 with Presidents’ Day sales in full swing.
