Amy Adams Hooters Waitress: Actress Talks About ‘Great’ Job’, Gives Advice To Young Women

Who knew Amy Adams used to work for Hooters when she was a young girl in high school? The Golden Globe winner spoke to the media on Sunday night and had some great pieces of advice for young girls.

Adams, who is one of the most respected Hollywood stars for her easy going ways, gave a most humble and completely unprepared acceptance speech for her Best Actress Golden Globe for her performance in Big Eyes. Amy, along with other fellow female winners seemed to be focused on strong women on Sunday night.

First off, she revealed her Hooters past. While talking to ET’s Nancy O’Dell at the Golden Globes red carpet, she shared an interesting piece of information that many didn’t know of before. Amy used to be a Hooters girl in her younger years.

“I would be proud of that, I would be like, ‘I had the body, people!'”

“Well I was like 18, so everybody has the body at 18, but it was a great job out of high school and I was a hostess at first, and then I waited tables for a while, and it was great. It was a great way for me to earn money for college.”

Adams shouldn’t be so modest about her body and looks. Plenty of guys fantasize about her, and women admire her seemingly sweet disposition and talent. However, Amy never imagined that she would go from waiting tables at Hooters to winning a Golden Globe.

“No I never did, I never dreamed this big. I really thought I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I wanted to be a dancer on stage, and it has just led to this so I’m just very fortunate.”

After winning her Golden Globe, Amy Adams took part in the press conference backstage where she gave young women thinking about a career as actresses some excellent advice. Here are her main points, according to Hitfix.

1. “Get off the Internet, don’t read what people write about you.”

2. “Stop listening to outside voices. Listen to your inner voice, instinct and intuition.”

3. “Surround yourself with people who are willing to disagree with you and willing to have a great conversation and debate in order to prove their point.

4. “Don’t be afraid to be smart or outspoken. Really be an advocate for yourself.”

5. “Focus on the art. Don’t worry about the celebrity.”

Amy Adams also shared her thoughts on where she expects her career to take her in the future.

“There are women out there fighting for much bigger things than I am, and hopefully we are in the — we have a unique privilege of telling their story but they are living the life and making the difference. Hopefully as I mature and age, which we all will, I can join the ranks of women who make a difference outside of acting. I tell myself to keep it in perspective.”
