C-Murder Conviction, Life Sentence Upheld

Former No Limit Rapper C-Murder will serve the rest of his life behind bars as the court appeal against his 2009 murder conviction was upheld yesterday.

C-Murder, whose real name is Corey Miller, was handed a life sentence two years ago after he was found guilty of the 2002 killing of 16-year-old Steve Thomas in a nightclub in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Miller, the brother of both Master P and Silkk the Shocker, maintains his innocence and launched an appeal earlier this year claiming the judge who presided over his trial allowed jurors to hear prejudicial and unsubstantiated testimony that he threatened witnesses to the shooting.

He also accused prosecutors of “systematically eliminating black people from the jury” and that the judge should have declared a mistrial when the jury indicated at one point that it could reach a verdict.

On Wednesday, a three-judge appeals court panel rejected those arguments and upheld the conviction and C-Murder’s life sentence.
